This past week, I traveled to Santiago, Chile to compete in the Monday Qualifier for the Scotia Wealth Management Chile Open on PGA Tour Latin America. The goal of the week was to get through the Monday Qualifier and make the cut at the event in order to get into the reshuffle. This would improve my current conditional status and allow me to play in the last 6 events on the back half of the season in May/June. After an overnight flight from Charlotte I arrived Saturday morning to beautiful summer weather in Santiago and started preparing for the Qualifier. On Saturday I practiced at a local golf course and Sunday I played a practice round at Prince of Wales Country Club where the Qualifier was held. The golf course had incredible views of the Andes mountains and was in great shape. The course was fast, tight, dry, and a difficult challenge playing at altitude (ball travels farther at higher altitudes). Unfortunately after having a great 1 under par front nine, unforced mistakes on the last couple holes of the back nine led to me shooting 74 and missing the cut at -1. Although the trip did not go as planned, I still learned a lot about my game on the course under pressure. Additionally, I also learned the hard way to never play conservatively in a qualifier because you never know where you stand. Coming back to the states after missing the cut began my off-season and holiday celebration. I'm very excited to be back working on my game for the next 5-6 weeks getting prepared, mentally, emotionally, and physically for a big year in 2023. Thanks to all of those who follow and support my professional golf journey!
